    A quick how-to for installing zaptel from scratch.

    Platform;
    Elastix-0.8.4
    kernel: 2.6.18-8.el5 (i686,i386)

    1. Install kernel-sources;
    Yum was not pulling down the kernel sources so we grab them from the repository and install.
    Code:
    # cd /usr/src
    # wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/kernel-devel-2.6.18-8.el5.i686.rpm

    # rpm -ivh kernel-devel-2.6.18-8.el5.i686.rpm
    2. Grab the version of zaptel you wish to install from asterisk.org. Should probably be a 1.4.x variant;
    Download, untar, configure, build
    Code:
    # wget http://ftp.digium.com/pub/zaptel/releases/zaptel-1.4.3.tar.gz
    # tar -xzvf zaptel-1.4.3.tar.gz
    # cd zaptel-1.4.3
    # ./configure
    # make clean
    # make
    # make install

    If everything installed OK you should be able to run 'genzaptelconfig' to confirm zaptel and related modules are installed properly.

    To confirm the version you just installed is loading properly check dmesg;
    Code:
    # dmesg | grep Zaptel
    Zaptel Version: 1.4.3
    Zaptel Echo Canceller: MG2
    Good Luck,

    That kicked the echo problem I had with my x100p from x100p.com and it works perfectly.

    Look in /boot/grub/grub.conf

    Make sure your default is booting to the correct kernel version that matches the kernel-devel you have installed.

    Code:
    #boot=/dev/sda
    default=0
    timeout=5
    splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
    #hiddenmenu
    title CentOS (2.6.18-8.1.8.el5)
    	root (hd0,0)
    	kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-8.1.8.el5 ro root=LABEL=/1
    	initrd /initrd-2.6.18-8.1.8.el5.img
    title CentOS (2.6.18-8.el5xen)
    	root (hd0,0)
    	kernel /xen.gz-2.6.18-8.el5
    	module /vmlinuz-2.6.18-8.el5xen ro root=LABEL=/1
    	module /initrd-2.6.18-8.el5xen.img
    title CentOS-base (2.6.18-8.el5)
    	root (hd0,0)
    	kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-8.el5 ro root=LABEL=/1
    	initrd /initrd-2.6.18-8.el5.img
