Has anybody tried Xorcom Astribanks with Elastix?
I'm thinking about buying one to plug in into a laptop to do some demos.
I have seen the Xorcom logo at Elastix's main page as strategic partners, so I think it should work.
I'm thinking about getting the cheapest model with 2fxo and 6fxs.
Maybe somebody can give me a better alternative zaptel device for external use?
I bought some months ago for this purpose a Zoom ATA and it is not good for Asterisk, it has many issues, and the fxo doesn.t work well (though at their webpage they stated that it was Asterisk compatible!!!)

I have one question about Astribank: what happens if the light goes off? Is there a bridge from fxo to fxs to be able to use the basic phone??

You probably will see the astribank lights glow in the dark...

...just kidding... :laugh::laugh::laugh:

There is no FXO lifeline support on power outage...yet.

But... if you are planning to have one astribank at home, i can tell you that small Astribanks units have a very low power consumption, about 25W for Astribank 8 (FXO only) and less than 50W on XR1030 (2FXO/6FXS astribank server), so if you connect one of these units to a 600VA UPS (normal computer UPS) it can be working about 3-6 hours, of course it depends of the UPS (full load) running time.

I have a computer store in Spain and we are starting with voip.
I plan to get a small Astribank 2fxo+6fxs mainly for demos.
Maybe later bigger ones for clients.
But Xorcom will have to lower prices, as Openvox and similars are starting to do so.

Post edited by: ramoncio, at: 2007/11/03 04:15

I have a 8 FXS and 8 FXO rack mount.

I need some help getting it going. As I understand there is some changes you need to make to zaptel.conf, zapata.conf, et al.

Can you walk me through setting the unit up?

I've found a few links on it, but nothing specific to Elastix.

Thank you!
