    Hello Guys,

Its me again. I have one question. currently my DID has 2 channels allocated to me. May i know how it affects the voice quality? 2 channels means 2 concurrent calls right? kindly enlighten me on how channels plays a major rule in voip.

    Thanks,

    Additional channels use additional bandwidth.

Some "cheaper" devices like the Grandstream Handytone HT-486 will use a compressed codec for their first channel, but if you try and dial in a 3rd party it will only be able to use g711 (And poorly at that).

In general if you have a decent endpoint and sufficient bandwidth, you'll be fine loading a *ton* of calls up :)

See here for the best bandwidth calculator: http://site.asteriskguide.com/bandcalc/bandcalc.php

For some reason the site is down for me at present, but Google Cache still works:
