I am trying to understand how to properly modify the contexts usingt eh file editor. I am confused like this.. i see I am told to modify extensions_custom.conf but what if I want to modify a context that is in the extensions.conf?

In other words can someone help me understand what the rules are for modifying files as it relates to then coming back later and modifying using GUI?

    Thanks

again that's in "Elastix Without Tears", and the inheritance (or inclusion) of files in the asterisk *.conf hierarchies. (voip-info.org)

I understand that it is in this document but that document is 258 pages in length.. that is quite a bit of info to digest when you are looking for the details of how this particular branding handles stuff differently.. not a dissertation on using the UI.. dont get me wrong it is thorough but there is a lot of info to sift through in that manual.
