This is probably a simple question, but I'm pretty new to Elastix and I don't want to clobber anything in the default configuration.

Right now I am testing VoIP providers. I'd like to set something up temporarily where I can dial some prefix to choose which trunk to use for any given call.

    eg. 8,1-555-555-1212 for provider Acme
    9,1-555-555-1212 for provider Bando

    etc.

how do i set this up and what prefixes are already reserved by default in Elastix 1.3?

    Thanks

You can find a list of features code in the .... feature code menu!

My two cents on trunk selection:
On my system I've the normal outbound routes (rate and/or user dependent), but I've added 'forced' trunk routes that you select by dialing *45n in front of the number (where n is the trunk number)

    example:
    Outbound routes: forced provider 1
    dial pattern: *451.
    trunk sequence: provider 1

    Trunk: provider 1
add in the dial pattern something to remove the *451 in front of the dialed number: *451|.

Theses routes are used mainly for testing purposes and don't even need to be known by the users as the routes should already have alternate trunk in case of failure of the primary ones.

Thanks for the info, I'll give that a try!

Nothing like tackling a new technology to skip you back to newbie land. <sigh>
    There's always something.

I know the feeling. I started to play with asterisk based distributions less than a month ago.
