Elastix is not a package, but a full distribution. It is designed to be installed on a fresh comuter with nothing else. While there are ways to do what you want, they are not easy, and leave a LOT of room for problems. Why are you wanting to install this way?

I'm looking for an easy way to install it on a distant VPS.

Most VPS providers require a special kernel. So does Elastix. Unless the provider is on-board, I doubt this will work.

This is true. Depending on the virtualization (Xen, Vmware, etc.) that your VPS uses, you will not be able to use the kernel provided by Elastix.

There are older instructions on how to install Elastix from an existing CentOS installation, but I can't guarantee they will work for you: http://www.elastix.org/dokuwiki/doku.ph ... om_centos5
