Hello,

We are trying to figure out a way to give visual indication that DND is on/off to the end user on their Polycom IP560s.

We have remapped the native DND button on the phone to dial *76 which toggles the server-side DND on/off. This allows our receptionist to have visual indication of who is available or not via iSymphony.

However, the end user has no indication of what state his/her phone is in. Is there a way to trigger a lamp or some other screen indication of what state the phone is in?

Out of the box the Polycom DND button gives a nice display on the screen that DND is active. However, that is only on the phone side and does not actually tell the system that the extension is in DND. That will not work for our receptionist/iSymphony setup.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards.

We have this working for the most part now. Here's how:

We essentially setup an EFK macro and then re-mapped the DND hard key on the IP560 to a speed dial that calls that macro. Below is a snippet of the XML required for this to happen.

<feature feature.18.name="enhanced-feature-keys" feature.18.enabled="1"
/>
<version efk.version="2"/>
<efk>
<efklist
efk.efklist.1.mname="Customdnd"
efk.efklist.1.status="1"
efk.efklist.1.label="Customdnd"
efk.efklist.1.action.string="*76$FDoNotDisturb$"
/>
</efk>

<keys
key.scrolling.timeout="1"
key.IP_550.9.function.prim="SpeedDial"
key.IP_550.9.subPoint.prim="99"
/>

This macro dials *76 for the server-side DND toggle as well as turns on the local DND display that is native to the Polycom IP560. The only drawback to this is that if the phone gets power cycled while the DND is on it falls out of sync with the server upon reboot. Easily fixed by using the *feature code to turn server-side DND back off which will put the handset and server back in sync. However, we'd like to figure out a way to keep them in sync in this type of situation.
