Just a newbie here so please don't flame. I just setup an Elastix and I was wondering if I can receive incoming calls without having a DID number (without the use of a SIP provider that is). I mean would it be possible to receive calls on a hostname@ip:port maybe?

If you Allow Anonymous Inbound SIP Calls on the general settings page, then yes you can.

<extension number>@<domainname or ip> is usually all you will need in a soft-phone the SIP port is by default 5060 and is usually unnecessary.

You can also set a "friendly" SIP alias in each extension and use that instead of the extension number.
