    Hi All

    i have a slight query i have installed rhino R4T1 T1 card on elastix 1.6 and by default the context on the dahdi-channel.conf is from-pstn do i need to change it to from-zaptel or should i keep it as default.

    ; Span 2: R4T1/0/1 "R4T1 (PCI) Card 0 Span 1"
    group=0,12
    context=from-pstn
    switchtype = euroisdn
    signalling = pri_cpe
    channel => 17-31,33-47
    context = default
    group = 63

    ; Span 3: R4T1/0/2 "R4T1 (PCI) Card 0 Span 2"
    group=0,13
    context=from-pstn
    switchtype = euroisdn
    signalling = pri_cpe
    channel => 48-62,64-78
    context = default
    group = 63

    ; Span 4: R4T1/0/3 "R4T1 (PCI) Card 0 Span 3"
    group=0,14
    context=from-pstn
    switchtype = euroisdn
    signalling = pri_cpe
    channel => 79-93,95-109
    context = default
    group = 63

    ; Span 5: R4T1/0/4 "R4T1 (PCI) Card 0 Span 4"
    group=0,15
    context=from-pstn
    switchtype = national
    signalling = pri_cpe
    channel => 110-132
    context = default
    group = 63

    secondly in the above script i need to know is that group = 63 what does this mean and under the context line there is another group=0,xx is there any prob in renaming this group or should i keep it intact.

    regards
    faisal

    from-pstn is fine, from-zaptel is for trunks that don't carry DID info, you have ISDN, which does.
    Due to the order of inclusion of statements in that file, the

    context = default
    group = 63

    will be overridden by the later statements until a channel => is encountered

    Channals are "written in stone" in the order that the various dahdi drivers are loaded, groups however can be anything you define them as (or someone decided to so define them), in your case channel one is in group 0 AND group 12, channel 2 in g0 AND g13 etc. group 63 is never used as it is always overridden, so doesn't have any meaning at all .

    Personally I don't see the use for groups of one, as dahdi/1 is the same as dahdi/g12 in your setup, groups are designed to be a set of channels that largely function the same. but hey go figure, they will all work.
