I have a client that purchased 10 or so used Polycom IP430 units that we hooked up to an Elastix system. About 1/2 of these have a sustained hiss on the line that sounds like frying bacon when you are on the handset. If you switch to speaker phone mode, the hiss goes away. On the phones that hiss, the hiss is bad enough that it is disruptive during the call.

I have searched on the web and have been unable to find a fix for this. The only indicator that I have seen is for something called "Comfort Noise" that is added during silence so the line won't seem dead. I cannot find any settings for adjusting the levels or turning that feature off though.

Has anybody else experienced the Hiss with these phones, and wee you able to cure it?
