I ahve looked around at some other projects, such as trixbox and sipX and they seem to have phone provisioning systems built in to aid in phone deployment.

It would be great to see such a feature in Elastix.

It looks like they have a database already created for different models of phones. All that should be left to do is write the code to create the .cnf files. This would be a great feature.

You configure the extension, set what phone make and model it is enter any setting you wish to apply to the handset. And set it to allow tftp provisioning and setup your DHCP server to the elastic server ip and when the phones boot they will automatically be configured.

This is very handy for large installs.

FreePBX wants to make this a feature in the near future iirc.

I agree this is a must-have for any installation. Really good to have a centralized configuration and control over extensions.

I can live without it until the final integration.

    Thank you keith_sudbury.

I've used trixbox and never used provisioning because it seemed too much of a trouble (didn't know much about it either)

If a nice web interface was build for this then... :woohoo:
