I just setup a couple of New Virtual Faxes in Elastix 1.6
Normally they come up and say "Running and idle on ttyIAX1" in the Virtual Fax List
Today these just come up as "on ttyIAX1" in that same field and the faxes don't answer
I do get ring back from the IAX extension

I have restarted Hylafax and Iaxmodem service with no change

Any ideas?
Thanks !!

That info should come from the original output from a shell of:-

faxstat

If the two don't agree then please post a bug in the bug-tracker link below.

My guess is that /etc/inittab was either not updated correctly or reloaded or the needed devices have not been correctly added (existance/ownership/permissions) to /etc/iaxmodem/ or /var/spool/hylafax/etc/ as these three basics are all that are needed for hylafax/iaxmodem to work together.

If you use Elastix 1.6 that has been very stable for a while now, please be careful of updating it with yum, there would appear to be quite a few "improvements" that are in fact of a very contrary nature, unfortunately the changes are not actually published in detail anywhere, so as ever caveat implimentor.

Dicko,

Thank you for your response !!!!

You were exactly correct the etc/inittab file had not been updated
I checked a working system and updated the file accordingly, restarted and I am good to go

Good, but that's a bug, please post it or it will never get fixed. Even if just to please me, (I'll give you karma if you do :) )

just in case

reloading inittab is just

init q

no reboot necessary
