After trying to install Nagios 3.0.6 onto my Elastix server to monitor other machines. After compiling over and over again to get permission issues in apache, this is how I installed it:

    wget http://packages.sw.be/nagios/nagios-3.0 ... f.i386.rpm
    wget http://packages.sw.be/nagios-plugins/na ... f.i386.rpm
    yum install libtool-ltdl
    wget http://packages.sw.be/fping/fping-2.4-1 ... f.i386.rpm
    wget http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/perl ... noarch.rpm
    wget http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/perl ... f.i386.rpm
    rpm -Uvh fping-2.4-1.b2.2.el5.rf.i386.rpm
    rpm -Uvh perl-Crypt-DES-2.05-3.2.el5.rf.i386.rpm
    rpm -Uvh perl-Net-SNMP-5.2.0-1.2.el5.rf.noarch.rpm
    rpm -Uvh nagios-3.0.6-1.el5.rf.i386.rpm
    rpm -Uvh nagios-plugins-1.4.9-1.el5.rf.i386.rpm

    htpasswd -c /etc/nagios/htpasswd.users nagiosadmin

and don't forget to change your email address in /etc/nagios/objects/contacts.cfg

    login at https://<fqdn>/nagios
    user: nagiosadmin
pass: <whatever you set at htpasswd>

    good luck

    Thank a lot for help.

About the permision, the problem is that apache in Elastix runs with the user asterisk and not with apache.

When using NagiOS I compiled from scratch, wasnt too difficult, but a very worthwhile tool to invest in! :)

What sort of things do you have it monitoring?
