Can anyone think of any problems that could come up by moving some directories off of the server.
In other words, I'm using blades which only have 32GB drives on them. I don't want to buy larger drives since I've got tons of external network storage.

What I would prefer doing is to move some of the directories that will grow the most, in var I believe, such as;

/var/lib/asterisk
/var/spool/asterisk

onto network storage where it can grow as large as it needs to and have very secure, reliable storage. Aside from making sure that ownership is good, any other issues that anyone can think of?

If you use nfs you may want to have a NIS server to share users between Elastix and the storage server. Using Samba could be other option.

I'm not sure I follow. I would only take the directory, put it onto a fast fibre channel network share, then make a mount to the remote on elastix.
