do u have compiled mpg123?
I am a newbie to using Linux. Can you please explain how I can tell if I have compiled mpg123?

I installed mpg123 by following the steps in Elastix Without Tears (page 165) "STREAMING MUSIC ON HOLD FOR FREEPBX 2.5 AND FURTHER".

Code:
cd /usr/src
wget ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/os/Linux/RPMForge/dag/redhat/el3/en/i386/RPMS.dag/mpg123-1.6.2-1.el3.rf.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh mpg123-1.6.2-1.el3.rf.i386.rpm
I have not had any luck getting streaming to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Hoping someone can help, i have been using Elastix for a while and recently upgraded to 2.2. I have just tried to add streaming MOH (i previously did not use this function) but i must be missing something.

I have spent hours searching, trying tutorials and it all seems easy but I just cannot get any sound out of the streaming MOH.

Does anyone have any ideas or a deefinitive solution that works for 2.2

Thanks in advance

Hi Matt,

I have this working with Elastix 2.3.0 RC1 and have no problems streaming internet radio (once I found some sources)

Providing your box has mpg123 installed just create a new entry in the "Streaming Category"

For example

Category: softneasynetradio
Application: /usr/bin/mpg123 -q -s --mono -r 8000 -f 8192 -b 0 http://208.85.243.168:8020/

Ensure that mpg123 lives in /usr/bin

Cheers

Gavin

Okay, so i hput this on hold pending v2.3 I have now updated my system to Elastix v2.3 64 bit and I still have the MOH problem. I have follwoed and tried all the info but just cannot get it to work.

One thing I noticed from the CLI is this warning as soon as i creat a stream category

[Jun 19 19:58:57] WARNING[22760]: res_musiconhold.c:659 monmp3thread: poll() failed: Interrupted system call

Then if I delete the stream it stops

If anyone can suggest what I might need to do to get this working I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks Matt

So, it seems that error may have something to do with a stream thats not working. I have got a new stream thats working and the error is now gone.

Still not working tight though, i get an echoy (new word) static type of sound.

mpg123 must be working as I have tried using just an mp3 file and that works.

Any thoughts ?

Sir DaveD,

Story of our lives right?

I tried to give you some carma but it won't let me since I gave someone else carma a few seconds ago. At least you know I'm thinking of it.

The problem with the latest Elastix is on resolving dependencies. So the article above takes care of mpg dependencies and Do not touch any config file just go to freepbx and add a streaming channel as explained

Sir Netspeak,

Therein lies the problem. The link on that page (wget ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/os/Linux/RPMForg ... f.i386.rpm), which is the same as the one on elestixconnection, is where I have tried to obtain the mpg file and it return that error code. I have tried to download from several other sites and get that same error.

Thanks

If you have webmin installed use RPM find and search.

I have not used Elastix in a long time now for various reasons but have never had an issue using webmin to do the searches and installs
