We have Elastix, and it's been working well for awhile. This week I installed 2 new SIP trunks for outbound VOIP calls with Broadvoice. Eventually, we got this working.

In troubleshooting TCP/IP to get out to the network (sip.broadvoice.com), we added DNS servers.

Also, before this week, external extensions were not working. We added the # in sip.conf so that sip_general_custom would run with externip= in it, and this got the external extensions to work.

So, the Broadvoice trunks work and the external phone works. However, we have a new issue. A call from one extension to another takes from 8 to 20 seconds before it starts ringing. Callers from the outside hear 3-4 rings before our phones ring. And, making outbound calls also takes 8-20 seconds before it starts to ring.

The problems may be caused by some of the network changes. I've heard reverse DNS failures may slow things down... Could that be the problem? How do I go about diagnosing and fixing it?

    Thanks!
