I have quite a number of users complaining that when they are using handsfree to talk over a landline, the other end can't hear them. It's like they are speaking 5 feet away and can barely hear their voice. However between internal SIP calls, it's fine.

    What could be the problem?

If you use analog/tdm trunks and your sip calls are good, you should check the settings of rxgain and txgain (epecially txgain), previous posts are here for the how-tos

The problem is only when using the hands free. If I pick up the handset and talk into it, the volume is fine. Therefore I think the problem is more in the sip.cfg file than the txgain.

I found this posting that has the same problem as I am. Any experts in Polycom phones think this is a good idea?

    SOLVED!

Downloaded the sip.cfg from Polycom's website and use that instead of the one from Elastix. I'm not sure why the sip.cfg from Elastix caused the low volume.
