Hello !

I connect some analogue phones with spa8000 (Linksys) and I would like to make them ring diffrently if an internal call comes in than when an external call comes in.

Thanks a lot for any idea on how to do this !

Fabianus,

I haven't worked on the SPA devices for a little while, but I understand that they are capable of producing different ring cadences on the analog phones.

The main concepts to be aware of is that different rings via FreePBX are set in the Inbound Routes, via the Alert_Info.

So the device or phones would have a default ring (which would be in the Internal Ring), and when a call comes through a trunk (i.e. an Inbound Route), then it would use the Alert_info and produce a different ring for incoming Trunk Calls.

So the main things to workout is how the SPA device wants the Alert_info, and just glancing (and may be totally wrong) I noticed that it uses Bellcore-r1 to Bellcore-r9 to produce different rings. It may be that this is all that is required in the Alert_info box.

I will be setting one up again in a few days time, so if you are still stuck I can give you a little more info.

There is sporadic info on google. The main tags to use are
candence, "bellcore-r1", SPA, Linksys, Alert_info, rings

Hope this helps....

I'm glad that worked for you. But would you mind sharing how you got it working. So that any future users with the same question get an answer simply by seeing this thread.

Thanks.

Re:how to make a diffrent ring when internal call

Hello nothings_found,

here is what Bob told me to do:

Let's say that the default ring defined in the FXS (in my case Linksys SPA 8000) is ring n° 1.

This will be the ring used for internal calls.

Now you setup an inbound route and you set Alert Info to "Bellcore-r2" for example.

And that's it, when a call comes in from the inbound route, the ring n°2 will be used.

Regards,
Fabianus

PS Dear Bob, perhaps you have any idea on this problem, too ;-)
