I just got our server up and running and I am having trouble getting an inbound call to show the caller's name. Currently I am only seeing the caller's phone number. I am testing a soft phone "X-LITE 4".

I installed the CallerID Superfecta but as soon as I try to activate it on a trunk the trunk stops answering calls.

Ultimately We are looking for a Mac OSX solution that we can link into our FileMaker Server. A solution that can display the following information as a new call comes in:

    - Caller's Name
    - Caller's Number

    - The phone number that the caller came in on. (most likely a toll-free line)
    - The Auto Attendant Name that the caller is being transferred from.
    - Extension name and number if being transferred from an internal extension.

    Has anyone done this before?

    Thanks.

you could do that with a custom made program in mac os x for example cocoa made soft in your server using a connector to the asterisk ami (asterisk manager interface) to interact between tha caller cid and the data displayed to the agents

...learn about programming agi or ami and a database...nobody will be answering more that that or with a program written to you...it should be a learning process...
look in asterisk the future of telephony you will find 3 or 4 programming examples

    ugh!

Okay, I can see my error, I should have broken my questions into two separate posts. The replies seem to be focusing on the second and much more complex question. For now I will be happy find the answer to the question that I posted in the subject line, how can I see inbound caller's name?

I just got our server up and running and I am having trouble getting an inbound call to show the caller's name. Currently I am only seeing the caller's phone number. I am testing the server with the following soft phone "X-LITE 4".

Can anyone tell me how to test the CallerID Superfecta so I can see if I even have installed it properly? Right now I cannot even tell if it is doing anything at all. Is there a log that would tell me if it is going out to any of the lookup sources?

CallerID name is traditionally an extra cost CNAM service provided by the (NANP) Telcos on traditional phone lines either analog or TDM (you are within that area) sometimes called Extended CID, Some SIP providers will provide that or You can purchase an external services to reference the national CNAM database usually at about one cent a call, ref:

    http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/CNAM

A poor man's version is to glean/scrape some info some public service databases, they tend to be very spotty, or you can maintain your own database and reduce redundant queries to that expensive CNAM service. You indeed found:

this module is ever evolving and you need to go to the sources and not use Nerdvittles or the queries will be generally be made over http and Elastix will rewrite that to https, this will break :) . To use your internal database, you generally need to write the mysql query to extract that name from your own data.

(you need to credit our esteemed Patrick_elx fo his work on this)

There are many posts here and elsewhere as to how maximize this module.

Our SIP provider says that they are transmitting the CNAM so I am obviously missing a setting somewhere.

I made Patrick_elx's modification to the superfecta file but it did not help. Now when I choose superfecta as the CID Lookup Source it prevents the call from ringing through at all.
