hi guys,

consider me newbie on voip / have been trying to configure various voip solutions /
liked elastix coz of its integration with other applications for crm and other things

my goal is to get inbound calls into my elastix box - running on vmware
i chose ipKall (free phone number as my whole purpose is to just get incoming call )

a) got a 360-xxx-xxxx number
b) the configuration points to my asterisk server
c) had SIP number

i have tried different configurations but am not able to get it right.
help me with trunk , extension and inbound route.
the ipkall should start with welcome message and then an option to press any extension.

anyone who has done a successful configuration would be of great help

thanks

This is how I did it. Under PBX > General Settings > Allow Anonymous Inbound SIP Calls? set it to Yes
Then under PBX > Inbound Routes create new route with short description and your DID Number that you got from them 360-xxx-xxxx. On the bottom set your destination. In your CLI when you call your number you should see call coming in.

thanks / i had tried that configuration earlier / it works :)

i do need help with following things as next steps

i)
a) after the calls come in, they should hit a welcome message of some sort
b) then it should hit a phone directory
c) the person should be able to press certain extension

ii) current call rings and then there is no sound after 4 rings - the way its configured now /i dont know what could be wrong - dont know how to intrepret asterisk log file

ipKall install guide - work in progress
====================
For future users who wud want to use ipKall , i will detail step by step as i resolve my own solution

so far the steps for me have been

To Get the phone number from ipKall - visit www.ipKall.com

i)entered my Asterisk/Elastix Server ip address as my SIP proxy
ii) SIP number to be put in can be any number (probably on the same lines as your extensions)
iii) valid email id

on Elastix side
i)Under PBX > General Settings > Allow Anonymous Inbound SIP Calls? set it to Yes
ii)under PBX > Inbound Routes create new route with short description and DID Number that you got from them 360-xxx-xxxx.
iii)On the bottom set your destination.
iv)In your CLI when you call your number you should see call coming in.

thanks

What you want can be done using System Recordings and IVR
First create recording using "......please enter your extension number here:" rest of the process is self explanatory.
Then you can use that as greeting and menu so that when someone calls they'll be instructed to press 1 for phone book and I think they can enter ext. # at anytime but you can explain that in the recording.

As for 4 rings, check follow me settings, ring strategy and ring time.
