    Hi, nice piece of work.
    People at
    http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=8919
have developed an Asterisk-addon adding a gsm trunk to Asterisk. So Asterisk can handle GSM phone calls from a conventional handy via a Bluetooth dongle.
Nevertheless I find the installation of such addon a little tricky. It will be nice a distro such as Elastix will be ease the install process by including it in the regular installation process of Asterisk.
    Thanks

Wow this would be a great addition, since in our part of the world, dialling across networks (ie. fixed to mobile and visa-versa) is 22% more expensive than staying on the same network. This add in would greatly reduce costs on a day to day basis. It would also have the added benefit that you leave your mobilein one place in the office and always get your calls via you IP infrastructure without having to always keep your mobile with you.

the work in http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=8919 have now been included in the asterisk-addons trunk.

    It's renamed to chan_mobile

And as far as I know it's not backported to asterisk 1.4 or 1.2.

    This is great!

It is a must-have for a hybrid PBX to have a GSM trunk just to call mobile numbers through GSM provider.
    It costs a lot cheaper.

The local pots provider  in my country earns billions from charging unaware customers -victims-

    This is the spirit!
