FreePBX or Elastix or AsteriskNOW

    We are currently deploying Elastix 1.6 with Polycom phones and it seems we really need to upgrade to the new version of asterisk to have some of the polycom presence functionality. I like Elastix but still to many bugs in the 2.xx version. What would be the comparison if moving to FreePBX or AsteriskNOW?

    Basically AsteriskNow would allow a free use of FreepBX at whatever level you care to go to.

    Elastix does not follow that path and you are stuck with a "forked up and old" version of FreePBX.

    If you go that open source path, then you will loose all the advantages of Elastix' added functionlity of call monitoring, Faxing, Operator panel, and Email domain ability, perhaps more.

    In truth, these added functions don't actually work very well in Elastix 2.?, so maybe it's not such a problem if these "Integrated functions" are un-necessary for you.

    as dicko said...if u need simple asterisk +freepbx asterisk now could sound better...and simpler to manage
