    dear all

I use fax extension in Elastix

I always receive the faxes corrupted or part of the page, I tried to send fax locally from a hard fax machine connected to an extension of the same server, it tries 4 times (the last one is "no answer" ) finally I found a part of the page

    fax extension: 290
    fax used to send: 210

the CDR report appears as follows

    2009-05-31 21:35:06 210 290 Zap/4-1 IAX2/290-4326 ANSWERED 4
    2009-05-31 21:35:17 210 290 Zap/4-1 IAX2/290-4326 NO ANSWER 0
    2009-05-31 21:36:29 210 290 Zap/4-1 IAX2/290-7517 ANSWERED 176
    2009-05-31 21:39:33 210 290 Zap/4-1 IAX2/290-7517 NO ANSWER 0

The alternate NO ANSWERS are probably due to the fax modem not recovering as quick as the hard fax machine is retrying (or not hanging up) (apparently in less than 15 seconds) this is probably not a problem. Unless your analog signal is perfect, balanced and echo correction is disabled (which should be automatic when a fax tone is detected), then expect errors in faxing. Have you called the fax modem at 290 with an analog phone just to confirm that the tones heard are clean un-stuttered and consistent? The session logs are written to /var/spool/hylax/log and will be very explicit as to what is going wrong.
    I also suggest that

    zttest -v (or dahdi_test -v)

should return a consistant 99.98 or higher or chances are that faxing wont work on the zap hardware

    thanks
I used zttest -v, the results are more than 99.99%

what is the modem you talk about I send from hardfax to IAX2 virtual fax (290), or from outside the site to the pstn line (using zap)

    thanks Dicko for your help

The IAX2 virtual fax (290) IS in effect the modem (modulator/demodulator). I'm suggesting you just call the fax machine from a phone and listen
