Hi,

we have tried virtualising other Asterisk distros before with limited success.

we always have voice quality issues, even if no other VMs are running on the server.

I can see that with Elastix there is a VM image to download and use with Xen.

My questions are:

1- Are there any voice quality issues when we run Elastix under Xen in production?

2- Can we use VMWare Server instead of Xen?

Thanks

A quick search of this (or any asterisk type forum) will give all sorts of opinions re virtualised/paravirtualised deployments.

I have recently posted her on this very topic, just use the search box (at the top of the page) for "vmware".
The answer is always going to include :

"it depends on your hardware/load you are will encounter",
"The type of virtualisation used"
"If you are using vmware you MUST get a kernel optimised for vmware"

(the vmware image you refer to is very dated, I don't recommend it's use, but yes Elastix works absolutely fine with elastix 1.3 and a vmware kernel to suit)
