HI, I have a Elastix server with a Digium PRI card with Hardware Echo Cancellation. Sometimes when our users (on Cisco 7960 IP Phones) directly connected on the same LAN call the PSTN through the Digium PRI Card they hear their own voice echoed back through the receiver.

I'm wondering if there is software echo cancellation in addition to the hardware echo cancellation that we have or perhaps the hardware echo cancellation is disabled.

Can someone advise how I can troubleshoot this?

I believe that the software EC will be disabled by asterisk if there is HW EC detected.

If the problem only exists on the PRI trunk then I offer:
EC is most effective if the 2/4 wire hybrid (The Digium card) is balanced rx/tx wise, I suggest you first off verify that. (you should find some posts on these boards as to how)
