My Elastix PBX will connect to SIP trunks over a dedicated T1. This T1 is just a data connection same as the T1 we already have for internet access.

I figured I would just have the T1 go to a router and then from the router it would go to my Elastix PBX via a standard Ethernet port.

Will this work? or do I need a T1 card in my Elastix PBX like the Sangoma A101? If so do I just bypass the router and go straight from the T1 into the PBX?

What is the difference in using a card like this? If there is a benefit I will go that route instead.
