    First off, welcome salazarw:

Secondly, perhaps you could clear up a little apparent confusion,

    You state:

    . . .Zaptel drivers are installed . .

yet Elastix 1.5 has moved to DAHDI from ZAPTEL, may I ask who installed the zaptel drivers?

I installed the Zaptel drivers after the board could not recognized by Elastix. I followed instructions on an Asterisk book I purchased calling for Zaptel drivers. I did not know that the board would work with DAHDI. However, the DAHDI drivers are installed. Is there a conflict between the Zaptel and DAHDI drivers?

A very a big one. you need to remove everything that got installed for ZAPTEL.

When you have DAHDI installed again, dahdi_genconf usually finds your hardware, but will show the problems(or lack of), when run, dahdi_scan will show what is configured, dahdi_tool will show the state of the channels.
    /etc/init.d/dahdi start (or stop)
will let you see any problems when starting or stopping the service

(all these run from a bash shell)

I can see the board after I re-installed the DAHDI drivers as per your suggestion. Now I
