When creating a new extension, there should be a checkbox (checked by default) "Create a new device for this user".

It would be possible to edit a device from either place, but if you're not using adhoc devices, you can effectively ignore the Devices page, and just use the extensions page to manage everything. Optionally, we could make it so in EXTENSIONS mode, the device page is simply hidden, but that probably isn't necessary.

Although the Elastix version is severely limited, it only does sip extensions, and that not very well ;) , the now almost mainstream

will however work for you but only within the unembedded FreePBX , custom, iax2, whatever, just make one extension (as a template if you will), export the extensions ( it is a comma delimited, quoted text csv) , use your favorite spreadsheet, be careful, use ONLY text column formats or a leading 0 will mess with you, reimport it, et voila, ils sont tous là!
