I am trying my first Elastix install on a Compaq Pentium 4 machine that was previously running Trixbox successfully.

I startup from the CD, press enter, and the display goes through the first 'loading' process fine (if not a little slow), but when it gets to "loading initrd.img........." and the dot-dot-dots fill up the whole row or more, and nothing happens. I cannot hear any action on the CD drive or HD when this happens.

I left it over night last night, and in the morning the display showed a graphic which was a cut up error on the Elastix screen seen at start up from the CD.

I tried "linux acpi=off" but this had no effect.

The HDD is a Hitachi IDE 160GB.

Would be very happy with any thoughts on this.

Hi akzidenz,

Can you test the cd in another machine or a virtual machine? Maybe there is an error with the iso image.

P4 box hangs on "loading initrd.img....." SOLVED

Well what do you know, 30 cent CDs are rubbish!

I downloaded a fresh version of the ISO, and burned it to a new high quality CD (not the 30c one used previously) and install from there was a breeze.

Access to the web gui no worries. Now I just have to configure the thing...

Thanks all for your help and interest in my case.
