    I have the problem of my faxes trying to go as g729. I have disallow=all
    allow=g729&ulaw

    I set the fax to use ulaw and it always dials g729. If I change to allow=ulaw it goes fine.

    What are you trying to send faxes through?

    Which extension do you use to send the fax?

    I have tried sending from a fax machine through a pap2 and through hylafax. extension was set to 800. It always tries to use a my compressed codec either gsm or g729 and won't use ulaw unless I set disallow=all and allow=ulaw as of now I have allow=gsm&ulaw.

    Have a look in /etc/iaxmodem/ttyIAX*
    and change the codec from slinear to the one you want to use.
    Watch out, if you modify something in the Elastix fax web gui, you'll have to change it back again, as it overwrites the iaxmodem config files every time you modify something...
    I hope Elastix crew will change this in future versions. Maybe in 1.1??
    Anyway, g729 is not good for faxing, it is meant to save bandwidth in voip traffic.
