Hi all,

So I began looking for a replacement set of Voice prompts for asterisk.
The default ones aren't specifically bad, but they could be better. They're not always the clearest, or best of quality for example.

So, here's quick How-To that'll give you a much nicer sound set. Its dead simple to install and can be done in under 2 minutes. Its also incredibly easy to change back should you so desire :)

Download page if you want to check them out: http://www.voicevector.com/Downloads.php
Now, on your Elastix box, run the following as root:
wget http://www.voicevector.com/voicepacks/s ... .0-sln.tgz
cp sounds-amer-fem-1.0-sln.tgz /var/lib/asterisk
cd /var/lib/asterisk
mv sounds sounds.old
tar xvzf sounds-amer-fem-1.0-sln.tgz
cd sounds
ln -s /var/spool/asterisk/vm vm
ln -s /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail voicemail
ln -s ../sounds.old/custom custom

IF for any reason you want to change back, simply:
rm -rf /var/spool/asterisk/sounds && mv /var/lib/asterisk/sounds.old /var/lib/asterisk/sounds

Love to hear the thoughts of the community on this quick and easy "upgrade" ;)

Enjoy!

Sorry for language

No funciona --reply=yes
Y poniendo -f tampoco, pregunta siempre sobreescribir fichero.

¿Que hay que poner?

thejay, edit ~/.bashrc
Remove the following lines:
alias rm='rm -i'
alias cp='cp -i'
alias mv='mv -i'

Then for safety, add them back later when done :)

Thanks for the info and post! I tried this sound pack out and overall wasn't very impressed. To me the default Asterisk voice sounded better and more professional.

I also had a problem when testing the directory (411) where it would just play some sound looping over and over.

Lastly, if you do use these and follow the steps above, you may want to set the change the ownership permissions of the sounds directory (and sub files/folders) by typing:

Code:
chown -R asterisk:asterisk /var/lib/asterisk/sounds
Thanks again.

Well this Voice definitely speaks the phrases faster, but the original sounds very robotic to me :-/

I was quite impressed at how easy it was to change back and forth between them :)
