    1) There is an additional configuration to let elastix send email notification of faxes received?

Why i can't receive any fax via mail?

    2) I've found an elastix gui bug: if we go to the page of the authorizated ip address for fax sending, if i want to configure a full 192.168.1.1-255 i must inser in the hostd file the "192.168.1.*" . In the manual hostd modification i can insert 192.168.1.* and everything works, but if i insert via gui, the guy ask me that "*" it's an invalid entering.

1)Generally as installed, the mail will function in a correctly designed Network, which includes an internal DNS Server and generally and internal Mail server. The system will pick up your MX record from your DNS, and send away. On 90% of the installs, this works straight off.

If this is not the case, a little extra configuration is required, which includes in the /Etc/postfix/main.cf. You may need to set the relay host to tell it where to send mail through, including authentication if needed. If you are going to use an external SMTP host (e.g. your ISP's mail server), you may defintely require this.

As each persons ISP, Mail setup is different, it would be worth your while looking on the Net for information on configuring Postfix.

Just one other thing, to confirm what your issue is, have a look at the /var/log/maillog. This will almost definitely tell you what is happening with your mail. If you don't have the ability to receive a fax to make it write a log record, then setup a Voicemail on your system that sends a voicemail via email, as this uses the same system to send the mail.
You will normally find that it could not send mail via a relay, or relayhost not specified etc.

    2) Use the accepted standard for describing a subnet, which is 192.168.1.0 (0 refers to the 1-254 subnet). While some software accepts the *, as they have designed it in the software, it cannot be taken as a gimme that it will work across all software.

    Hope this helps

    Regards
