When updating should i strictly stick to updates via Elastix repositories or can i do update module admin via FreePbx or does it not matter. Want most stable method.

    Thanks

I have trashed and rebuilt many Elastix/Trixbox/Asterisk boxes and found that they do become unstable if you jump full release versions in any part.
For example, if you're on FreePBX 2.5.3 which came with Elastix (64bit) and FreePBX release a 2.6 full upgrade, its possible you'll lose linkage to some feature of the Elastix overlay.
As for Kernel versions at the OS level, I personally would attempt testing the upgrade first on a second machine to instantly witness any immediately obvious issues/breakages (which is normally caused by a kernel incompatability).

Always, the most stable way to go is to stick with the official updates released.
