    Thanks.
But these codecs are free or we must have a serial number?

    I do it like this:

    Code:
    cd /usr/src
    service asterisk restart
    wget http://asterisk.hosting.lv/bin/codec_g723-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium4.so
    mv codec_g723-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium4.so /usr/lib/asterisk/modules
    chmod +x /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/codec_g723-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium4.so
    wget http://asterisk.hosting.lv/bin/codec_g729-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium4.so
    mv codec_g729-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium4.so /usr/lib/asterisk/modules
    chmod +x /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/codec_g729-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium4.so
    asterisk -rx "module load codec_g729-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium4.so"
    asterisk -rx "module load codec_g723-ast14-icc-glibc-pentium4.so"
    service asterisk restart
    sleep 2
    asterisk -rx "core show codecs"

I followed Ramoncio's instructions above and it worked great, that being said call quality takes a big hit using G729 I guess I will use it if I ever need to make so many current calls that my bandwidth can't handle it with ulaw.

I am trying to figure out which version of the codec I should download for my system but I am a bit confused

I am running elastix on a VPS which uses Intel Core 2 Quad 4*2,4 Ghz

can anybody help me clarify which one of the below codec I should choose?
I've been researching but I don't seem to come to a conclusion

    # codec_g729-ast14-gcc4-glibc-core2-sse4.so
    # codec_g729-ast14-gcc4-glibc-core2.so
    # codec_g729-ast14-icc-glibc-core2-sse4.so
    # codec_g729-ast14-icc-glibc-core2.so

    Thank you!

Look at the result of the following command:

    cat /proc/cpuinfo

look if your proc support sse and which one.

for the compilateur you can use gcc.

    hey guys

    thank you for the help!
I have sorted this out already as I wasn't getting any answers and I needed to go live..
so I paid the tech support of my hosting provider, and they did the job! it was reasonable and I needed it so all good!

but thank you again for the help!
    :)

Howdy all, so I followed the script and installed the 729 icc on my P3 coppermine. chmod 755 the codec after placing it in the modules directory, ran Module load codec etc and the codec installed.

Then changed my trunk to show disallow=all and under that allow=g729, set 729 as the only codec in eyebeam 1.5, made 1 inbound call and I could see in the CLI using 'sip show channels' that the codec being used was 729 from the phone and the SIP server (no transcoding) but after that first call I cannot get it to use 729, now calls just fail.

I tried this on 2 different setups that I have, 1 I was able to make a single call (as stated above) the second I can only do transcodeing with 729, on both boxes I can see 729 coming in from the VSP's SIP server but Asterisk is transcoding it into 711. This is the only way I can seem to get any leg of the call to use 729, if I remove the 711 codec from the trunk and eyebeam I get failed calls 100%.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Heres the results of 'core show translation recalc 10' in the CLI
