I noticed there is a copy of every .conf file in

    /etc/asterisk

    also located in

    /etc/asterisk.elastix

I was just curious as to the purpose of this? It appears that we use the non-elastix verison; is it there only as a backup?

not quite, the asterisk.elastix is just a place that Elastix chose to put the original asterisk raw defaults into, you will notice they are largely skeletal, feel free to delete that directory.

    Thank you for the clarification.

I've deleted them, knowing that if I didn't, at some point ... I'd be making changes to the wrong file (oh how many times I've done something so stupid, oh how many times...)
