Looking thru some of the config file under asterisk directory I ran across a file that started with "Asterisk Call Management support". Can one advise what this file is for and if the "secret" is changeable or not and if doing so will it affect the main operations? It appears to have a standard default password assigned to it.

Trying to secure site as much as possible, looking around the forum here not seeing to much in reference to this file.

Thanks in advance

The file to which you refer is manager.conf, it controls who has access to the Asterisk Call Manager (which runs on ,by default tcp/5038) and from what address space they so have that access. A good reference is:-

http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php ... nager.conf

(as ever, both voip-info.org and google really work for such questions) I suggest you don't mess with it until you better understand it, almost all access to that service will be from localhost (127.0.0.1) in a standard Elastix, if you open it up injudiciously you will likely start getting "big bills", as a corollary, if you close it down you might loose service, but basically tcp/5038 should never be open on your firewall unless you know why.
