i keep hearing about ARI, asterisk recording interface, and how users can go there and change their voicemail settings. How do i get to this, or is it even included in elastix. Ive looked in freepbx and the only thing i see in elastix is a voicemail option in the pbx tab.

I have elastix 1.0-17

In the FreePBX interface you should have 5 tabs at the top i.e

Admin Reports Panel Recordings Help

If you dont have the above, then give this a go.

Reynolwi,

Sorry for the delay in replying. Here is a few easy steps to follow.

1, From a Windows machine go to this link download and run the program. http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Util ... nload.html
2, Once the above is done go the the Recordings WinRAR file and double click on it.
3, You will have a folder call Recordings you can now drag that folder to your desktop.
4, Now go to this link below from a windows machine and download and install this program WinSCP.
http://winscp.net/eng/download.php
5, Now go to this link below from a windows machine and download and install this program Putty.
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgta ... nload.html
6, Login to your Elastix server using the WinSCP program by clicking on the icon on your desktop you will now have to windows on the left is your windows C drive or whatever and on the right side you will have your Elastix folders & files.
7, Click twice on the up arrow on the elastix side and you will see all the folders last one being "VAR"
8, Double click on "VAR" then double click on "WWW" then double click on "HTML" now you will see all the folders and files.
9, Now on the left window you will see all your windows c drive folders and files from the drop down box on the top left corner select your Desktop, now you will see your "Recording" folder you extracted. click on it so the folder is highlighted and drag it to the right side onto your elastix "var/www/html" which you already have open and drop the "Recordings" folder here, make sure you drag it diagonally so it does not end up inside and other folder, once you release it you will now see the "Recording" folder between the "panel" & "static" folders.
10, Now on the top of winSCP between the words Session & Options just below you will see an icon which looks like the network icon which sits on the task bar. Click on it and a window will open which will ask you for the root password of your Elastix server, put in your root password and press enter. NOTEdont worry if you cannot see what you are typing as it is not displayed.
11, Now you will be at the root prompt, do the following.

cd /var/www/html
PRESS ENTER
chown -R asterisk:asterisk recordings
PRESS ENTER
cd ..
DO THIS 3 TIMES
cd
PRESS ENTER
asterisk reload
PRESS ENTER

Now go to FrePBX and you will have your Recordings TAB

Enjoy!!

Good Luck
