Hi,

ArchLinux is an excellent distro - fast, lean, small, stable, constantly updated, lots of mirrors, great community and customisable. It would provide a fantastic base for Elastix. It also has pacman which is the best package manager.

    Thanks.

Post edited by: mullman, at: 2008/02/16 09:21

What would be the reason for dropping CentOS and going with this? It would seem that you would be reinventing the wheel again.

I know that slackware and its derivatives like archlinux are very light (I am fond of zenwalk). But I have a similar question like that of cowboy47.

The most important problem with the distros like archlinux is user support base. To believe, please see this post of mullman which is not addressed even after 72 hours by anyone:

If the support is overwhelming like in debian, centos and zenwalk, it is worth going for. I always come back to linux from *bsd because of the same reason. Please correct me if I am wrong.
