Is app_rpt part of the Elastix distribution? I can find the rpt.conf file, but it does not seem that the application is working.

    Maybe you mean rtp.conf?

    no, I'm talking about app_rpt
    http://www.zapatatelephony.org/app_rpt.html
it's part of the the Asterisk 1.4 and 1.6, but it seems that it was not compiled in the Elastix distrib however the conf file called rpt.conf is present.

I've played last night with my server and tried to install app_rpt.
That's my first recompile of asterisk and I'm a linux newbie... So far it seems to work ok.
However I had some issues with swift and ilbc that needed some attention to fix.
    here's my result:

I would suggest that you delete the two ilbc codec in /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/ to make sure that they will be rewritten.

    Code:
    cd /usr/src
    wget downloads.digium.com/pub/asterisk/releases/asterisk-1.4.22.tar.gz
    tar zxvf asterisk-1.4.22.tar.gz
    cd asterisk-1.4.22
    ./contrib/scripts/get_ilbc_source.sh
    make clean
    ./configure
    make menuselect
in menuselect go to applications and check app_rpt
check in codec if ilbc is enabled
    in compiler flags check radio_relax
exit and save (esc then S)

    Code:
    make
    make install
    amportal restart
As I said above, I had also a small issue with the optional Cepstral swift that was not loaded anymore in asterisk. I had to redo the swift install and that fixed it.

And now I have proudly on my pbx
    Code:
    *CLI> show application Rpt
-= Info about application 'Rpt' =-

    [Synopsis]
    Radio Repeater/Remote Base Control System

    [Description]
Rpt(nodename[|options]): Radio Remote Link or Remote Base Link Endpoint Process.
Using it properly will now be another story...

Recompile asterisk with these different options was not that difficult, and so far I haven't found any problem.
I will just have to be careful at the next yum update of asterisk to recompile again with the new source.
It would however be easier if Elastix was already compiled with app_rpt
