Personally I would use a <MAC>.cfg and aastra.cfg file served from a tftp server.

If you aren't sure what to config, program the phone via the web-gui. Then save the config and place this on your tftp server.

Then blank the phone config and make the phone boot from the tftp server.

i realized that after having some headaches after the first few days of playing around with the system, that the only thinig had to set was the TFTF server address and the phone did the rest! :)

I wrote a Windows app that has the config options and builds the files for you. It also lets you create XML for the phone.
http://www.lraweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ it's not been updated with the latest options found in the latest firmware as no one seems to be using it.
