Elastix has grown rapidly as well as the community behind the project. At first it was easy to keep up with the forums, news, emails, and other forms of contact with the community. However, as the project grew our time became limited and could not keep up with the amount of communications needed.

Rafael Bonifaz

So we realized there is a need for a community manager. We have searched for quite a while and finally found a great community member. We are proud to introduce to you our new Elastix community manager: Rafael Bonifaz.

Without a doubt Rafael will be a valuable addition to our team. He will allow us to be more connected to all of you who have made Elastix what it is today.

Before joining our project, Rafael worked for the Ecuadorian Government pushing for the use of Free Software in the country. He did a fine job and even orchestrated a meeting between Rafael Correa, President of Ecuador, and Richard Stallman, Founder of the Free Software Foundation. As outcome from this meeting was a set of policies implemented for the use of Free Software in all government institutions.. Also, in 2007 he was invited to be an observing member of the Free Software Foundation Council for Latin America.

Without further to write, we want to welcome him to the Elastix team... Welcome Rafael!

Rafael,

Not sure if it fits into your role as Community Manager but here goes:-

1) Improvement on release mechanism for updates and changes. Many of the updates, and releases have little or no information with them. As an example 1.1-2 is available, but no information on changes, and nothing that can be seen from sources.

2) A proper bugtrac system, so that bugs can be entered. I recognise that Palosanto is probably using an internal one, but users do want to help with bug corrections, and without it, the community cannot contribute or feel like that they are contributing. Even if you get a few experienced users to act as "moderators", removing or correcting entered bugs, so that the only bugs in the list are genuine, qualified bugs that the Palosanto team look at... A lot better than trying to submit bug reports twenty times in the forum in all different spots.

3) Project track system.
Place to allow tracking of special interest projects e.g. integration of a new tool or product. These projects might be interests that the Elastix team have but haven't time to start, and would like community help, or might be interests from the community on projects that they have already started.

Anyhow, these are not criticisms, just suggestions....Otherwise welcome....

Regards

Bob

Hi all,

As Edgar said I would be officially start working on Monday 14. I guess one off the first things I would have to do is change the forums ;). I just open a thread here to receive recommendations about the forums:

http://www.elastix.org/index.php?option=com_joomlaboard&Itemid=34&func=view&id=8270&catid=15hole&elastix_cat=asterisk&elastix_txt=Improve+the+forum

I won't be online that much until the 14, but I would catch up on Monday so please post on the forums any idea you have to make Elastix community the best community possible.

Regards,

Rafael
