It is hard to be humble when someone is doing all they can to attack you.

If getting help means having to be insulted and treated like dirt, I could care less about his help and wish he would simply avoid posts he doesn't like.

It makes me wonder why ANY project would want such a person to be part of it. He creates the 'idiotic' problems then cries foul.

Getting rid of someone who creates this much energy would probably find you a dozen better replacements.

I was asking about perhaps having the avantfax setup as a virtual server.
I see that you integrated it into elastix tabs and other functions. I need only the avantfax gui to be made available to remote users.

For testing, I had copied it to /var/www/avantfax and found a small problem. I decided to make a symlink to the same location thinking that perhaps the functions linking to the rest of elastix would be 'less' broken this way. Seems to be working but wanted to know if this would be a problem and if so, what I should be taking care of.

There is a very long thread about avantfax and near the end, there are mentions of making sylinks and other things but since you've not mentioned those, I have not done them yet. I also have not followed the avantfax manual because of how you have integrated it into elastix.

If you could let me know how I could run this as a virtual server, or some other way so that remote users would gain access only to this, it would be very appreciated.

About your issue, I don't get why you want to use /var/www/avantfax
CentOS it uses /var/www/html/avantfax, if you place it there you can connect using your.ser.ver.ip/avantfax

I had already installed avantfax so obviously have been reading documentation including the long thread. It is silly to be accused of being self-entitled for asking questions.

Sometimes, getting rid of one person opens the door to many good people coming along. Keeping someone this negative lurking, waiting to pounce makes using elastix nothing but frustrating.

Again, my intention is NOT to get into silly battles and I tried to explain things as best I could until my thread got hijacked with this nonsense.

But now, as with so many others who have been bullied by Yoda, I guess I am already no longer welcome and need to find another solution.

My main requirement is that of needing the avantfax gui on it's own, without any of the other elastix functions being available to users.

This install of elastix was to test avantfax, it was a quick way to get hylafax, IAXmodems, etc working. I then installed the avantfax package which defaulted to /var/www/avantfax as a virtual server.

I ran into problems and reverted to a clean backup, then installed your RPM version. This version installed avantfax with the rest of the elastix functions which is perfect in some ways but in my case, it doesn't work.

I would use this server as a stand alone fax server only and would have other elastix servers for voice. Fax calls would be forwarded to the 'fax server', where users can use a web based gui to manage their faxes.

Take in consideration dicko has been helping you since the begining, just being a bit ironic in some posts, but that's him. Don't take it personal, there are many unpolite beginners he has to deal with every day.

One more thing.
If you plan to configure a 'Only fax' server, I would REALLY suggest you to install a pure CentOS+hylafax+avantfax and to get a hylafax fully compatible and supported card. Currently they don't offer official support for iaxmodems, and a real fax card is a lot better, faster and more reliable. Some faxes have problems negotiating with some iaxmodems, as they depend on spandsp. But with a good fax card you can transmit/receive at 33600 bit/s to/with some compatible machines. With iaxmodem 14400 bit/s is the top speed, though 9600 bit/s is recommended to avoid compatibility issues.
