Hey all,
i wanted to ask.
With Elastix 2 being out and it being different in many ways from v1.6 and before, has it been considered to make seperate sections for each major revision of the software and with in that have each section.
I find it can be time consuming going through threads about an issue only to find out it applies to v1.6
Elastix v2.*
-help
-installation
-networking
Elastix v1.*
-help
-installation
-networking
Or add an area when creating a new post that one requirement is the person must select from a pull down menu what version of Asterix they are using which would then show in the sbuject?

Mathiau, that's certainly an idea. On the other hand however, it's hard enough getting people to post in the right sections as it is, it may invite more confusion. I'm of the opinion that we don't seperate it. =0) Just my 2 cents.

Tried AsteriskNOW - You'd think Digium would have the superior product, but they went for the stuperior product
Tried TrixBox - They got all corporate and forgot about the rest of us
Tried PIAF - Took a golf club to it

true, i am sure we all see that often in that people just click the first forum they see and post..
what about the option to add a "tag" for the version in a new post, if that is even possible..

Tagging is good. I'm not sure if this forum is out of the box or custom made. There may be some difficulty in doing that sort of customization. I do remember talk in some old posts about moving to a different forum package. I don't think that every happenned.

I still think it is in the pipeline, but originally it was raised to combat the robot SPAM, and to improve the response of the Forums.
The SPAM has now been managed, with something that one of the Palosanto guys wrote, which is pretty effective. Likewise they have upgraded/implemented a new server which is why the forum is pretty responsive....
The forum response was part of the reason why I limited my responses on the forums for the last 7-10 months. As you may be aware, I write reasonably long, descriptive responses, and invariably I would lose 2 out of three responses, because either the forum would hang on posting, or would time out, and the posts were lost...
However that was the past, I am now able to respond with no lost posts, part of the reason for responding a little more.
The main reason the Forum changeover wasn't a straight forward decision was that the transfer of messages was going to be a nightmare, especially anything with links to existing threads, and any attachments, pictures etc, would not be transferred.
It was then decided that they would possibly make this forum an archive and start a fresh one, which was under testing.
You never know it might be revived in the near future....but not as critical now...
BTW, I agree with not splitting forums, it will end up a mess....like the idea of tagging which might be a better way to go, but will require a new Forum software...
Regards
Bob
