I have a customer request to have two extension ring the same phone, seems pretty basic but I am not sure exactly how I would do this, the 57i allowed me to program ie. ext 902 on line 4 and make a call out on it, but on an Inbound call it goes straight to VM, should I use BLF or some instance of this to accomplish my goal.

Just a little further insight on my goal. The customer wants to have a receptionist extension for the Phone itself, but also wants a personal extension for the person acting as the receptionist, (I dont know why, but for VM purposes and direct extension dialing they want them separate.) Anyways I use XML to autoconfigure the phones, of course it auto configures based on one extension not two. Has anyone accomplished this?

For such a one off I suggest you edit the relevant <macaddress>.cfg in tftpboot. with reference to the Aastra documentation, (you can have up to nine registration on the phone)

A more conventional solution for "multiple appearances", (In FreePBX world anyway) is to build appropriate ring-groups.

Yes your right will accomplish this with the ring groups. + 1 2 u.

Only thing is even though I can get a different extension to register to Line 4 the outbound caller id is the same as the main Phones extension. Is there any way to change this, I changed the extension callerid on the phone and in elastix.

select that line before you dial, or after if you prefer predialing, or download the latest and greatest from aastra, you can set the default outbound line now.

Ok tried from that line and did not work, so the latest firmware will allow for that now? will try.

Don't know , haven't tried it, I just RTFM, but my suggested method always worked for me (I think)
