Unable to pass '*' once on a call - DTMF issue?? 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
I have a customer who dials out to conference calls and voice mail and in each case the prompt to access the call(s) requires first pressing '*'. That key is not recognized however subsequent numeric key presses are. I have the settings for DTMF=rfc2833 and DTMFmode=rfc2833 and tried changing the mode to 'auto' and that didn't work either. I contacted my VOIP provider (nexvortex) and they also suggested looking into the DTMF settings. I did verify that nexvortex is rfc2833 compliant and that is what they recommend.

I am using Elastix version 1.3-2

Any help?

There are some "in-call" feature codes (on that page in Unembedded FreePBX) that begin with * I suggest that you might need to disable them or change them to allow the * to "pass-through" without being interfered with.

I'll try that out and post the results. Thank you.

I have disabled these 3:

In-Call Asterisk Attended Transfer
In-Call Asterisk Blind Transfer
In-Call Asterisk Toggle Call Recording

They are the only 'in call' features I found. The * is still not going through. Am I missing any that might affect it that are not in the above list? You also mentioned the ability to allow the * to 'pass through' for those but there doesn't appear to be an option to do that on the 'feature codes' screen. Thanks!

Have you tried using a different handset or softphone? What device do you currently use to connect to your elastix server?

I can properly pass the * when using a softphone that is connected directly to my VOIP providers proxy server. I have tested both a softphone and a VOIP phone (Aastra 9133i) registered to our Elastix box and still have the problem. This appears to be directly related to the Elastix settings in some way.

Also, it doesn't matter whether I am inside or outside the firewall. When directly registered with my Elastix box the * isn't passed through properly.

You could perhaps post the
contents of:-

Get local.cfg

and

Get server.cfg

from the "trouble shooting" page of your phones' http server.

perhaps you have some "vertical service" defined that collides.

How is your phone provisioned?

I am unable to locate the "troubleshooting" location you mention... I am looking in either the elastix or freepbx interface and can only find a file editor and those are not located there.

I'm a newbie so I apologize if I should know this but where do I find those files (how do I get to them?)

Also, I have Aastra 9133i phones that I register through my PBX's IP address to an extension already created in the system... I'm not sure what else you might need.

Thanks for your assistance!
