I'm not able to run fax on elastix 1.5 too.
There is no fax option for extension and additionally it is not possible to run fax using fax tab.
I have configures as usually IAX extension and then virtual fax on number 899. I can see fax status:
"Running and idle on ttyIAX1"

But during colling to 899 call is rejected
Log output (calling from 888 to fax on 899)

I'm giving up.
I have spent a lot of time digging in this forum and in my elastix system. I have no found any reason why the virtual faxe based on IAX fax and HaylaFax dos not work.
I have tried to change the configuration, reinstall software, recompile some components.
On the end I have used avantfax-3.1.6.sh found on this forum.

I'm giving up. Could somebody please confirm that have working fax solution on elastix 1.5 stabel if yes -please include information on which version.
If any additional work should be done to make it works, please share your expirience and write down what have to be done in this case.

Witekprytek is right. Do a search in the forum is not an answer. Fax function was in all elastix versions.

i've still got the nvfax option showing in my freepbx trunks but searching for nvfax comes up with nothing so it's certainly not there.
however, my iax2 extension which points to my fax works when dialled internally.
the issue i have is that my zap/1 trunk was routed to the iax2 extension via context=from-zaptel and zaptel DID's.
i think with the move to DAHDI, this has been broke as the incoming route is from DAHDI/1-1 and not ZAP/1 anymore and i'm not sure on how to re-route it so all calls from DAHDI/1-1 go straight through to the IAX2 extension for fax.

Did you install the NVFax files I posted above? ( you must reboot after you have put files in there )
If you have installed them go to you inbound Dahdi trunk and select NVFax and delay time of 5-6 to allow tone detection

Your fax extension on that inbound route will be freepbx default
Go to general settings and where it says extension of fax machine for receiving faxes put your fax extension and set emails as you wish

This works fine as I have it running here on 1.5.2 with avantfax and no issues
