TOPIC: 800 numbers using an Enum trunk
#13736
800 numbers using an Enum trunk 3 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
I discovered this by accident setting up Google 411 , perhaps nothing new to you, but here it goes;

1- Create an ENUM trunk. call it whatever you want
2- Create an Outbound Route, call it whatever you want

Paste this to the Dial Patterns of your Outbound Route
1800NXXXXXX
1822NXXXXXX
1833NXXXXXX
1844NXXXXXX
1855NXXXXXX
1866NXXXXXX
1877NXXXXXX
1888NXXXXXX

Then set the Trunk sequence to your ENUM trunk on top.

To verify if the 800 call is going out with your ENUM trunk
Run this from the console asterisk -rvvv asterisk

Enjoy.

WTF???? That is absolutely NOT required for this to work, and frankly demonstrates zero understanding of how trunk dial patterns work (you should never have replacement characters on the left side of the plus sign, for one thing). Your tip to use ENUM for toll-free call completion is valid, but leave out these dial patterns, they are NOT required. If the problem is that you are dialing the toll-free calls using only ten digits without the leading "1", then you only need ONE rule that looks like this:

1+NXXNXXXXXX

Again, NEVER put replacement characters (N, X, etc.) on the LEFT side of the plus sign!

(And if you want to educate yourself about why this is so wrong, see this how-to: www.freepbx.org/support/documentation/ho...and-trunk-dial-rules )

I just took the idea from here

<snarky>Oh, you got that from a TRIXBOX forum? Well, I guess that explains it!</snarky>

But seriously, what you did was to adapt that information and in doing so, you apparently made some invalid assumptions about how trunk dial plan entries work. You will notice that in that thread, they did NOT put any replacement characters on the left side of the plus sign.
