Hi guys, i just wanna check something with you all before i commit to purchasing some expensive servers, anyway here goes, i currently work with a telecomms company supplying and installing business telco systems in the UK, the new venture we are engaging in is basic voip hosting to end users, i have been checking out elastix for some 1 year so far and i have recently upgraded a server to elastix 2, great work by the way i like the new interface etc etc, anyway what we are hoping to achieve is the following, we are having a leased circuit installed for the sole use of our voip servers, we are having a 10mb over a 100mb bearer initially witha view to upping the bandwidth as required, the bearer will have a cisco router attached, the primary elastix server will have its own external wan ip and users will connect on there phones using a dns addree ie
telco@etc.com , each server will have a backup server using HA and the great new remote backup option in freepbx so a ha server will always be available for each node, i am using g729 for calls to cut down on bandwidth. The server spec after long long conversations with dell will be a server with a 1TB harddrive using raid of course, two quad core processors and 8gb of ram, they will be rack mounted servers with a 12hour UPS attached running over a gigabit switch to the router, both servers the main server and the backup node are online all the time, we have already arranged an incomming sip pipe which will be carrying all the outgoing calls with multiple ddi comming in over the same pipe, each customers site will be restricted to only dialling their own extensions and features will be bought and paid for and activated through custom contexts, all of which we have tested to destruction and seems to work well. I am hoping to host 800 users per node ie primary server with an anticipated max 400 - 450 max simultaneous calls at once, how does this sound ??? believe me i have looked at paid options and even tested a few but non of which seem to have elastix flexability and reliability. The only place i am struggling a bit is with trying to get the darn reinvite to work so that phones dialling internal only ie desk a to desk b in the same office will only use our server to setup the call then the media streams will be redirected to each phone freeing up valuable resources on our server, how is this achieved, i have read and read and read elastix without tears but still cant get this to work any ideas guys or web links i can look at explaining how to set this up. Anyway this is our idfea we are not skimping on funds as each server costs us in excess of £3000 so each nodes servers ie main and backup costs us in excess of £6000. Lemme know what you think or any ideas you guys have to give me a helping hand
Regards
Kurt
